Core sequence

How to block consistently

  1. 01

    Read the approach

Track the hitter's shoulder and lane before watching the ball at the last moment.

  2. 02

    Hold the net lane

Start from a stable position instead of drifting across the net while jumping.

  3. 03

    Delay the jump

A late, aligned block beats an early block that leaves the ball above your hands.

  4. 04

    Choose rebound

Use W for downward pressure, neutral for control, and S for a deeper rebound.

Common errors

block mistakes to fix

  • Jumping as soon as the setter touches the ball
  • Blocking the center while the hitter approaches outside
  • Ignoring side tilt against angled attacks
  • Leaving no teammate behind the block for coverage

Better habit

What good players repeat

Strong mechanics are boring in the best way: clear target, stable body position, one planned input, then immediate recovery for the next ball.

Practice Mode

Three block drills

01Drill

Practice neutral blocks from a fixed lane.

02Drill

Alternate W and S block outcomes.

03Drill
